TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Senior Lindsey Buteyn was named to the Southeastern Conference's Community Service Team as announced by the league office. This is Buteyn's first recognition from the SEC for her efforts in the community.
"We are proud Lindsey has received this honor," said head coach Judy Green. "It is so important for our student-athletes to give back to our Tuscaloosa Community. Each has an opportunity to be a positive role model in someone's life."
Buteyn showed leadership this year serving as a captain on the court and in the community. What initially started out as a weekly meeting at Davis Emerson Middle School turned into hours in the classroom helping young women with whatever they needed. Buteyn also took part in the Halloween Extravaganza which was a huge hit on campus. She and her teammates watched over the blow up bouncy gym, providing hours of entertainment for the children in attendance. Buteyn also took part in a volleyball practice at Woodland Forest where she helped the girls with volleyball techniques and stayed afterwards for an end of the year dinner.
The SEC Community Service Team, now in its sixth year, honors one athlete from each conference institution who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
