
Women's Tennis Hosts SEC Fall Coaches Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The women's tennis team is set to host the annual SEC Fall Coaches Classic at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium. The 12-team tournament will begin Thursday, Nov. 6 at 4:00 p.m. (CST) and conclude Sunday, Nov. 9.
"We are excited about hosting the Fall Classic at home this weekend," said Head Coach Jenny Mainz. "It's nice to play at home and showcase our team and facilities in front of our fans. We've worked really hard to keep building this fall and honed in on what adjustments we've needed to make."
The tournament will kick off Thursday with two rounds of doubles action. Match play will continue Friday at 9:00 a.m. (CST) with two rounds of singles. Saturday opens at 9:00 a.m. (CST) with the final two rounds of doubles and one round of singles. Wrapping up the event Sunday will be the final round of singles beginning at 9:00 a.m. (CST). There will be four singles draws comprised of 16 competitors and two doubles draws made up of 16 teams each.
Representing the Crimson Tide will be senior Shelley Godwin, juniors Paulina Bigos and Alice Tunaru, sophomores Meritt Emery and Tiffany Welcher and freshmen Taylor Lindsey and Courtney McLane.
"This tournament will be another great measuring stick for us to see if the adjustments we've made are working," added Mainz. "It also gives us and advanced look at our conference competitors and always makes for a competitive environment."
