
Women's Golf Wins Two Matches to Head to Finals

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Alabama women's golf team played its way into the finals of the 2008 Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship by earning two victories Monday at the Ginn Reunion Golf Course. The Crimson Tide opened the day with a 2-2-1 victory over rival Auburn and then secured a spot in the finals with a 3-1-1 win over Denver.
Alabama playing as the No. 3 seed after finishing third in the stroke play portion of the event defeated the No. 6 seed Tigers and then sent the No. 7 seed Pioneers out of championship contention. The Tide will have to wait for the conclusion of the Duke and Michigan State match up. The Spartans upset No. 1 UCLA to open the day.
Alabama used a tiebreaker to beat rival Auburn. The Crimson Tide received wins from sophomore Camilla Lennarth and senior Laura Goodwin. Lennarth defeated Madison Overby 6&5 and Goodwin earned a 5&4 win over Mariana Macias.
Lennarth earned another win in her match up against Katie Kemper of Denver 2&1. Courtney Harter earned her first win of the day by defeating Sara Faller 3&2. Junior Helena Blomberg was 1 Up on Dawn Shockley.
