TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The volleyball team (8-5, 1-3) will conclude its third week of SEC play Sunday when it hosts South Carolina (12-2, 4-1) at 1:30 p.m. (CST) at the CAVE. The Tide looks to rebound against the Gamecocks after a tough loss Friday night to No. 10 Florida 3-1.
South Carolina is currently third in the SEC East behind Florida and Kentucky. The Gamecock's only loss in the conference came at Ole Miss on Sept. 26 when they dropped a 3-1 decision (25-17, 25-21, 13-25, 25-19) to the Rebels. South Carolina's Belita Salters, Ivana Kujundzic and Bridget Denson-Dorman are among the league leaders in each one's respective category with Salters ranking second in hitting percentage (.430), Kujundzic tied for second in kills per set (3.83) and Denson-Dorman leading the SEC in assists per set (10.76).
The Tide and Gamecocks will be meeting for the 32nd time in history Sunday with Alabama owning an 18-13 advantage overall. The last outing between Alabama and South Carolina was Nov. 17, 2007 when the Gamecocks beat the Tide in the regular-season finale in Columbia, S.C. 3-0. Prior to that loss, Alabama had won three straight contests against South Carolina.
General admission to Sunday's match is $3, however, all fans that present a football ticket for Saturday's game against Kentucky will be let in free. For those not able to attend, the match will be broadcast live on the radio at WVUA-FM 90.7 in Tuscaloosa. In addition, live stats will be available on www.rolltide.com.
