
Tide Hoops a Big Draw At SEC Media Days

Birmingham - The Southeastern Conference is hosting Tipoff 2009 SEC Basketball Media Days at the Birmingham Marriott today and Thursday, October 22-23. Wednesday afternoon was the Crimson Tide's time slot to appear before the media, and representing the University of Alabama men's basketball team were head coach Mark Gottfried and senior guards Ronald Steele and Alonzo Gee, and Tide women's head coach Wendell Hudson and senior guard Camilla Blands and sophomore forward Tierney Jenkins.
Each year the event draws the media to Birmingham to talk SEC hoops. Alabama was voted in the league's preseason poll as the favorite to win the SEC Men's Western Division. Steele and Gee were preseason All-SEC, 2nd Team picks.
Tide fans can see the men's trio in action and meet them and the rest of the 2008-09 Tide players and coaching staff on Sunday, November 2 at 4 p.m. CST. Alabama is hosting its annual Crimson and White scrimmage at Coleman Coliseum where the men's team and coaching staff split in half and square off against one another. Admission is free to the game and afterwards the players and coaches will be available to sign autographs and have their photos taken with fans.
