BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior libero Amy Pauly was awarded Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors following a 51-dig weekend as announced by the league office Monday. She has earned this distinction on five other occasions in her collegiate career and once already this season.
"Amy had a terrific weekend," said head coach Judy Green. "She anchored our team's defensive effort in two tough road wins. She is very deserving of this honor."
Pauly collected match-high digs in the contests against Arkansas and Ole Miss with 20 and 31, respectively. Her 31 passes versus the Rebels was a new season best for the senior. With her 51 combined digs, Pauly has amassed 1,543 digs over her four-year career and is 278 scoops away from overtaking Jessica Yearout as the Crimson Tide's all-time leader in that category. She currently leads the league in digs per set with 5.08 and anchors the Alabama defense that ranks No. 1 in the SEC in digs per set at 16.69.
Pauly also received the SEC Defensive Player of the Week award on Sept. 8 for her performance at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla.
