Was a three-year starter at Tuscaloosa Academy for Coach John Rushing ... hit .656 with four home runs and 40 RBI as prep senior ... a three-time honorable mention AISA All-State by the Alabama Sports Writers Association ... played summer ball for Tuscaloosa Post 34 ... member of 2007 Alabama State American Legion Championship team ... led team to the Battle of Omaha (Neb.) championship, played in conjunction with the 2007 College World Series ... also attended several CWS games, including championship round between Oregon State and North Carolina.
