TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- This week’s Crimson Corner features freshman setter Lauren Martin. Martin, hailing from Sebastopol, Calif., talks about the Academy Sports Bama Bash and her experiences at the first home football game.
“This weekend started on Friday for me because we had to prepare for the tournament we hosted. It didn’t go exactly as planned but it was a good learning experience for the entire team. We learned we had to stay mentally focused throughout the entire match and we could not afford to take points off or mentally check out during the match.
In addition to the Academy Sports Bama Bash, I also had an opportunity to see my very first Alabama football game. Being from California where football is almost nonexistent, this weekend was really fun for me and I got to experience the truth behind SEC football.
It was amazing seeing how packed campus was with die-hard fans and it was really neat that I got to be a part of that.
Although the game was a blow-out, it was really fun. I know some of the players on the team and it was great to watch and support them.
Even though this weekend was very stressful at times and quite tiring, it was a good learning experience for my team and an overall productive weekend.”
