TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- Senior All-American middle blocker Crystal Hudson garnered her fourth SEC Player of the Week nod today for her performances last week, announced the league office.
"Crystal had two back-to-back solid performances this past week which helped us win two big conference matches," said Alabama head coach Judy Green. "Our coaching staff and her teammates are very proud of her."
Hudson, a 5-9 native of Hueytown, posted a team high 34 kills in two matches, tallying 5.66 kills per game. Hudson hit a season high .517 against Mississippi State before hitting a match high .438 against Arkansas. Hudson's offensive performance led the Crimson Tide to only its fourth victory against the Lady Backs since the series inception.
With 34 kills last weekend, Hudson moves to fifth place on the career kills list, surpassing Sue Farris's 1,305 kills. Hudson currently has 1,315 kills and is 174 kills shy of the fourth place slot.
The four-time SEC player of the week will be thrown into the mix with the other conference players of the week to be voted on for National Player of the Week announced later this week. This nomination puts Hudson only one honor behind Erin Heffner for the most career conference player of the week selections.
