TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- With only 16 days left until the season opener, University of Alabama volleyball season tickets are going fast. Since the CAVE holds approximately 1,000 fans, the designated area for season ticket holders is filling up fast.
Over the past two seasons, the Crimson Tide fan base has grown exponentially. That could be a result of the team’s rising success since head coach Judy Green took over the program in 1996. In 2005, Alabama won its second division title in the Southeastern conference and made its first trip to the NCAA tournament in the program’s history. The following year the Tide returned to the NCAA tournament, ending the season with a 2-3 loss to Stephen F. Austin.
Last year, Alabama also set attendance records in the CAVE and the hometown crowd cheered the Tide on to a 13-3 home record. In the 10 years that the CAVE has served as home to Alabama volleyball, the home attendance has increased each year. In 2006, Alabama averaged 732 fans per match and had 10,789 fans in 16 events.
This year, the Tide home schedule features 13 home events, including the Academy Sports Bama Bash to open the home season. With five starters returning from last year’s squad, this year is sure to hold fun and excitement for the entire family.
Season tickets are $30 and general admission is $3 for adults 18 and up. All University of Alabama students are free. For ticket information contact the Alabama Ticket Office at 205.348.2262 or visit www. ROLLTIDE.com.
