
Five Bama Track Athletes to Compete at NCAA Championship

On the men's track and field team sophomore Augustus Maiyo will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase after winning the NCAA Mideast Regional this past weekend in
Freshman Tyler Boswell received an at large bid for the NCAA National Championship in the high jump. Boswell finished in 11th place at the NCAA Regionals which qualified him for an at large spot. His height of 7-01.75 at the
Freshman Emmanuel Bor also received an at large bid in the 5,000m. He finished eighth at the NCAA Mideast Regional which placed him in the running for an at large birth to the NCAA National Championships. Bor's time of 13:54.39 at the Stanford Invitational on March 31 earned him the 16 seed in the field of 26 runners.
The women's track and field team will send two athletes that will compete in three events. Senior Miruna Mataoanu will compete in the high jump and the triple jump for the Tide at the NCAA National Championships. She received an automatic spot at the championships after winning the NCAA Mideast Regional in the high jump, she will be the number three seed in the field of 28 jumpers.
Mataoanu will also compete in the triple jump at the championships. She received an automatic bid after her third place finish at last weekends NCAA Mideast Regional. She will be seeded 26th in the field of 27.
Junior Trish Bartholomew will compete in her first NCAA National Championship race next week. She received an at large spot after reaching the finals and finishing seventh overall in the 400m. She will be seeded 18th in the field of 29.
The NCAA Track and Field National Championships will begin on Wednesday, May 30 in
