TUSCALOOSA - Crimson Tide basketball is known for being a winner, and a Tuscaloosa advertising agency recently reaped the benefit of those winning ways.
Total Com Marketing won a 2006-07 Addy Award for a commercial it produced and created for the Tide to sell its season basketball tickets. Featuring Alabama head coach Mark Gottfried sitting in his office trying to work amidst a group of Tide-basketball-loving fans who cheered his every office move, the commercial won in the category of "Regional, National TV Single, Consumer Entertainment."
And the ad made an impact. Alabama basketball averaged 12,284 in 16 home games. A single season school record 196,552 fans attended Alabama's home basketball games this season, breaking Alabama's previous best of 189,055 in 18 home games in 2006. It sold out six of its eight home SEC games for a school SEC home attendance record average of 14,212.
