
Salem Named SEC Player of the Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- University of Alabama senior center fielder Emeel Salem was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after leading the Crimson Tide to a series win over sixth-ranked Arkansas this past weekend in Tuscaloosa.
The Mountain Brook, Ala., native capped a stellar home career with a solid weekend against the Razorbacks. Salem hit .533 (8-for-15) in the series win with one home run and three RBI. He also scored three runs and added one double and one stolen base.
Salem was 2-for-5 with one RBI in Bama's 10-0 blowout win in the series opener. He went 2-for-5 and scored one run in game two of the series. Salem capped the weekend with a 4-for-5 effort in the series finale with two runs scored, one home run and two RBI. Salem's two-run home run in the sixth inning in the series finale that gave Alabama a 6-4 lead that it never relinquished.
For the season, Salem is batting .360 (76-for-211) with a career-high seven home runs and 32 RBI in 52 games. He has also added 58 runs and tallied seven doubles and three triples.
