Freshman Sarah Robles Picks Up Two NCAA Regional Marks

AUBURN, Ala. ?? The University of Alabama women’s track and field team competed at the Auburn Tiger Classic this weekend on the campus of Auburn University.

Freshman thrower Sarah Robles picked up two NCAA regional marks this weekend in the shot put and the discus.  In only her second collegiate outdoor meet, Robles was able to pick up her first NCAA regional mark in the shot put with a distance of 49-01.50. She picked up her second consecutive NCAA regional mark in the discus throwing a personal best distance of 166-08.

Former Southeastern Conference champion Aymara Albury, whose eligibly expired after the indoor season, competed this weekend as an unattached athlete and broke two Auburn stadium records. Albury won the hammer throw with a distance of 198-02, nearly seven feet further that the previous stadium record of 191.60. She won the shot put with a distance of 53.03.75, almost four feet further than the previous Auburn record of 49.05.

The Tide is scheduled to compete at different venues in California, including Mt Sac, Long Beach and UCLA, this weekend.
