Soccer Ties South Alabama and Finishes Spring Season Undefeated

FAIRHOPE, Ala. ?? The University of Alabama soccer team completed their spring season with a 1-1 tie against the University of South Alabama at the Lower Alabama Classic in Fairhope, Ala. Sunday afternoon.

Alabama (3-0-3) fell behind South Alabama 1-0 in the 27^th minute of the first half, but answered with 14 minutes left in the half on Kailey Corken’s goal. She took a cross pass that Jamie Zimmerman hit from about 25 yards out and headed into the back of the net to tie the game at one.

“I thought we played really well today,” head coach Don Staley said. “You have to tip your hat to South Alabama they played well also. I am very proud of the fact that we fell behind early and was able to battle back against a good team like South.”

The Tide finishes the spring season without a loss and only allowing two goals in six games. They will open the fall season on August 31, in Pittsburgh against Robert Morris University.
