
Tide Has Four Golfers Competing at Belmont Intercollegiate

Stewart Whitt leads the Crimson Tide’s representatives after two rounds. He’s in seventh place at five under par after shooting 67-70/137. Matt Hughes is a shot back and tied at eighth at four under par after shooting 68-70/138. Ben Moody, the son of former Tide women’s basketball coach Rick Moody and the state’s defending Alabama Amateur champion, shot 73-71/144 and is two over par and tied at 38th. And Thomas Hugghins shot 78-79/157 and is at 63rd going into Tuesday’s final round which will begin at 8 a.m.
Austin Peay leads the nine teams competing and has the best individual scorer going into the final round in tournament leader Justin Metzger who is ten under par (65-67/132). Half of the field, 32 of the 64 golfers, go into the final round at par or better. Two golfers, one in the morning round and another golfer in the afternoon round, set course record at 63.
