
Women?s Track Picks Up Three Additional NCAA Regional Marks

WALNUT, Ca. ?? The
“This was a good meet for us, we had an opportunity to go against a lot of the west coast schools,” head coach Sandy Fowler said. “The competition was refreshing since it was not people we compete against very often.”
Freshman Sarah Robles picked up her third consecutive NCAA regional mark of the season in the discus, throwing 163-00 and winning her field. She also threw 157-10 in the hammer which is four inches from her personal record of 158-02 which she set last week at
Junior Trish Bartholomew turned in a time of 54.56 in the 400m which was good enough for a second place finish in her field and also picked up her first ever NCAA regional mark. She was a junior college All-American before transferring to the Tide this season.
2006 NCAA All-American Miruna Mataoanu competed for the first time since the indoor national championships in February and picked up a NCAA regional mark in the high jump with a height of 5-10.75.

Freshman Rachel Garcia finished third in her section of the shot put with a distance of 41-07.75, three quarters of an inch of her personal record of 42-08.50 which she set at the Alabama Relays.
