TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The Crimson Tide women’s basketball team, who ended its season last Thursday with a loss to Ole Miss in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, received a pair of postseason awards. Two seniors, guards Navonda Moore and Leah Drury, were honored with postseason recognition.
Moore, a second team All-SEC honoree as a junior, was named to the Associated Press second team following her senior season that saw her lead the Tide in scoring for the second straight year. Moore became the 21st player in school history to score 1,000 points in her career and moved up to 13th in the all-time charts at UA.
Drury was named to the league’s Community Service team following a senior campaign where she played in all 30 of the team’s games. Drury volunteered for the Halloween Extravaganza at the Capstone this fall and has also volunteered with the First Baptist Church youth girls basketball team. She is a speaker for Hoops for Heart at the Tuscaloosa Christian Academy, a reader at Holt Elementary School for Read Across America Day and volunteered with the SEC Youth Clinic in Little Rock. Drury has also worked with the Brewer-Porch Children's Center and at Lord of the Harvest Baptist Church.
Alabama finished the 2006-07 season with a 10-20 overall mark that included an eight-game home win streak in the non-conference season. The team loses four seniors, including Moore and Drury.
