TUSCALOOSA ?? The United States Basketball Writers Association has voted University of Alabama sophomore forward Richard Hendrix to its All-District IV team. District IV consists of players from the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi.
Tennessee’s Chris Lofton, a junior guard, was voted the district’s Player of the Year. Joining Hendrix and Lofton on the USBWA All-District IV team announced on Tuesday are Florida’s Corey Brewer, Al Horford and Joakim Noah, Vanderbilt’s Derrick Byars, Chris Douglas-Roberts of Memphis, Kentucky’s Randolph Morris, Florida State’s Al Thornton, and Louisville’s Terrence Williams. The district’s Coach of the Year is John Calipari of Memphis.
Hendrix, a native of Athens, was voted to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District team last week. He leads the Crimson Tide in scoring at 14.6 points a game and leads the team and ranks fourth in the Southeastern Conference in rebounding with 8.8 rebounds per game. He had the SEC’s best aim in league games in 2007, making .604% of his shots from the field.
