
Tide Women's Golf Set to Compete at UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The University of Alabama women’s golf team will preview a National Championship-caliber field when it takes part in the inaugural University of Central Florida Challenge in Orlando beginning Monday, March 4.
The Tide takes part in a 13-team field that includes current No. 1 Georgia and defending champion and fourth-ranked Duke. Other teams in the talented field include No. 3 Pepperdine, No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 12 Purdue, No. 16 New Mexico, No. 19 Florida, No. 23 Arkansas, host school UCF, LSU, Ohio State, and SMU.
Alabama is coming off of a ninth-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic last weekend. Senior All-American Jenny Suh captured the fifth medal of her career and her third with the Tide, at the Classic. Suh fired a 217 to finish the tournament at one-over par.
True freshman Rhea Nair carded the best tournament of her brief career with the Crimson Tide at the Classic. Nair shot a 223 for a 26th-place finish.
The University of Central Florida Golden Knights is hosting the 54-hole event at the Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando.
The medalist in the Challenge receives an exemption to play in the LPGA’s Sybase Classic in May of 2007. This will mark this first time that a collegiate golfer will receive an exemption to play in an LPGA event.
Competition at the UCF Challenge begins with two rounds of play on Monday, March 4, with the final round scheduled for Tuesday, March 5.
