Miruna Mataoana Earns NCAA Automatic Championship Qualifications

Senior Miruna Mataoanu won two events on Saturday. In the triple jump she reached a distance of 41’1” just inches off a NCAA provisional mark. In the high jump the
“Miruna had a fabulous day,” head coach Sandy Fowler said. “This was another good meet for us, we are achieving out goal of getting more national qualifiers every week.”
Senior Julia Hicks picked up her first ever NCAA provisional mark Saturday afternoon in the Big Apple. She turned in a time of 9:32.04 in the 3,000m.
Freshman Kathrine Strickland set a personal best and set a new school record in the pole vault with a height of 11’9.75.”
The Tide will compete next weekend at the Iowa State Invitational.
