
Swimming and Diving Competes at Bulldog Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. ?? A small contingent of the Alabama Swimming and Diving teams competed at the Bulldog Invitational Last Chance Meet at the Gabrielson Natatorium on the University of Georgia campus.
Freshman Agustina de Giovanni won the 200 IM with a 2:03.60. She also posted a 2:16.13 in the 200 breaststroke. Both times meet the NCAA “B” qualifying standard.
Senior Melina Bassino was sixth in the 100 butterfly with a 56.29 after posting 56.09 in preliminaries. Freshman Hannah Brinks was 10th in the 100 butterfly with a 56.69.
Senior Karissa Tuthill scored 250.50 points to take sixth place off the one-meter board. In the preliminaries of the one-meter, freshman Elizabeth Hughes scored 267.35 points and took second place. Tuthill was also fourth off the three-meter, scoring a 267.10 in the finals, after scoring 284.55 points in preliminaries. Hughes was sixth in the preliminaries of the three-meter with 245.45 points.
Freshman Julie Richards was seventh in the 100 backstroke with a 59.87. Freshman Nicole Roberts was 10th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.82. Junior Stephanie Johnson was ninth in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:07.06 while sophomore Mary-Kate Sellers was 10th with a 1:07.32.
Freshman Aaron Fleshner took third in the preliminaries of the one-meter diving competition, scoring 325.35 points. Flesher was second off the three-meter with 387.50 points. He scored 408.55 points in preliminaries. In finals he took fifth with 286.85 points. Freshman Tim Cline finished sixth off the one-meter board with 278.30 points, while fellow rookie Chris McCormick was seventh with 253.55 points. Cline was fourth in the finals of the three-meter board after scoring 327.65 points while McCormick was sixth with 315.80 points.
Freshman Clint McClendon was sixth in the 100 backstroke with a 52.04. Sophomore Kevin Greer won the consolation final of the 50 freestyle, posting a 21.44 and taking ninth overall. Freshman Colin Brosko was 10th in the 50 with a 21.86. Sophomore Van Diehl was eighth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.49.
