TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- University of Alabama senior volleyball player Crystal Hudson was named to the All South Region team for the second consecutive year, announced the American Volleyball Coaches Association today.
“I am very excited for Crystal being a repeat selection to the AVCA All South Region team,” said Alabama head coach Judy Green. “This is a great honor for both her and our volleyball program here at the University of Alabama.”
The Hueytown native earned the honor after being named to the All-SEC First Team earlier this season. Hudson led the team in kills, hitting percentage, block assists and total blocks this season and ended the year ranked in the conference stats in hitting percentage and kills per game. The middle blocker posted a .371 hitting percentage, good enough for third in the SEC, and tallied 3.81 kills per game, good enough for seventh in the SEC.
Six additional members of the Southeastern Conference joined Hudson on the All South Region team. Hudson will compete with the best players around the nation for a spot on one of three All-America teams to be announced later this month.
