
Crimson Edges White in Baseball Scrimmage

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The University of Alabama baseball team wrapped up another week of fall practice with a Crimson and White scrimmage Friday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Mike Sharp and Cole Shelton combined for three hits, two RBI and one run scored leading the Crimson team to a 5-3 win
Sharp and Shelton had back-to-back two-out doubles in the second inning to give the Crimson team a 1-0 lead. Tyler Odle and Shelton extended the lead to 3-0 with a pair of sacrifice flies in the fourth inning.
The White team closed the gap to 3-2 in the eighth inning when Ryan Rhoden singled and scored on Kyle Moore’s triple to center field. Moore later scored on a ground out.
The Crimson team added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Josh Rutledge’s RBI single to center.
The White team loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning with one out but managed only one run when Drew Clark walked and later scored on a wild pitch.
Matt Bentley added a solo home run for the Crimson team.
Austin Evans threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts for the White team, while Del Howell had two scoreless innings and two strikeouts for the Crimson squad.
Alabama continues fall workouts next week and will hold three more scrimmages on Wednesday, Oct 25-Friday, Oct. 26 at the Joe.
