
Divers Earn Top-10 Finishes at Georgia Invitational

University of Alabama divers made steady progress during the three-day Georgia Diving Invitational held at Gabrielson Natatorium this week in Athens, Ga.
“For where are during the season, and having to overcome some bumps and bruises that come with this point in the year,” Crimson Tide diving coach Pat Greenwell said. “It was a definitely a good stepping stone for us.”
Senior Karissa Tuthill and freshman Elizabeth Hughes gave the Tide a pair of top-5 finishes in the platform event. Tuthill took fourth with a score of 215.70 while Hughes scored a 200.05 for fifth.
On the men’s side, freshman Chris McCormick was 10th off the platform, scoring 200.10. Freshman Aaron Fleshner was 11th off the one-meter board with a 250.30.
Alabama hits the road for its first dual meet of the New Year, facing Kentucky Saturday, Jan. 13 in Lexington, Ky. The Tide’s first home meet of 2007 comes Saturday, Jan. 20 against Florida and South Carolina. Alabama’s men are ranked 17th nationally while the women are receiving votes in the top-25 poll.
