TUSCALOOSA ?? The University of Alabama women’s basketball team seeks to end a seven-game drought in the Southeastern Conference on Thursday night when the Tide travels to instate rival Auburn to face the Tigers at 6 p.m. (CT). Auburn defeated Alabama in Tuscaloosa earlier this season. The game will not be televised, but can be heard on the Crimson Tide Radio Network with David Crane calling the action.
The Tide, coming off of consecutive losses to top-10 opponents, finished its first half of league play winless. Alabama faced three top-10 foes in their first seven games and lost three others by a combined 15 points.
Auburn comes into the contest with a two-game losing streak of its own following defeats to Kentucky and No. 8 LSU. The Tigers are 2-4 in league play after a 13-3 record in non-conference action.
Not surprisingly, the series between Alabama and Auburn is the longest-running one in Tide program history. The Tigers drew even with UA with its win over the Tide in January to knot the series at 32 games apiece. Auburn has won the last three meetings on its home floor over Alabama.
The Tide continues a two-game road stretch in the SEC on Sunday, Feb. 4, when UA travels to Nashville to face the top-15 Vanderbilt Commodores. Game time is set for 2 p.m. (CT).
