
Grand Slammers Preseason Barbecue and Baseball Fan Day Set

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- The No. 24 ranked University of Alabama baseball team will participate in the 23rd annual Alabama Grand Slammers Preseason Barbecue and Baseball Fan Day on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007. The event will be held in the Scholarship Room at Bryant-Denny Stadium from Noon until 2 p.m. (CST).
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under). All 2007 Alabama Grand Slammers members will receive two complimentary tickets with their membership.
Coach Jim Wells and the 2007 Crimson Tide baseball team will be on hand to meet and greet fans at this year’s event. Fans will have the opportunity for autographs and photographs with the members of the Crimson Tide baseball squad. Posters, schedule cards and information about the 2007 edition of the Bama baseball team will also be available.
The Alabama Grand Slammers, founded in 1983, is the support group for the Alabama baseball team. They have contributed thousands of dollars over the years to the University of Alabama baseball program for stadium upgrades and scholarships. The club operates the Chuck Kirkham Memorial Scholarship, which is presented annually to a senior member of the UA baseball team wishing to further his education.
Alabama opens the 2007 season against Georgia State with a three-game series in Tuscaloosa. The season opener is Friday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m.
