
Men?s Track Wins Three Events at Indiana Relays

Bloomington, IN?? The University of Alabama men’s track and field team competed in the second meet of the indoor season today at the University of Indiana. After a sluggish start to the season last week at Kentucky the Tide improves vastly in week two.
“I was extremely pleased with today’s results,” head coach Harvey Glance said. “We want to get better each week and we did that today. We had great veteran leadership today and our young guys also competed very well.”
Alabama’s successful trip to Indiana brought home first place in three events, five second place finishes and third place in three events.
Senior Michael Cooley won the 200m with a time of 21.66. David Chaplin finished third with a time of 21.93.
Freshman Emmanuel Bor won the 800m with a time of 1:55.43. Bor also turned in a time of 4:08.10 in the mile run, good for a second place finish.
Agustus Maiyo finished in third (4:09.44) in the mile and second in the 3,000m with a time of 8:25.30. Titus Koeh finished third (8:31.35) in the 3,000m.
The Tide’s 4 x 400 relay team won with a time of 3:15.10. Members of that team include Cooley, Chaplin, Brandon Spradley and Joel Pile.
In the field events the Tide also got second place finishes from Paul Wynn (long jump, 6.93m) and David Clyburn (high jump, 2.01m)
The Tide will compete next weekend at Clemson University.
