
Struyf Earns First Win of the 2007 Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla.- The Alabama men's tennis team began its spring season Saturday with Sammy Struyf and Saketh Myneni competing at the Miami University Spring Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla.
Struyf, a junior from Waregem, Belgium, posted a three set victory over Michigan's Andrew Mazlin 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles spot today, earning the team's first victory of the 2007 season. With the win Struyf improved to 6-3 on the year.
Myneni, a freshman from Andhra Pradesh, India, fell to Michigan's Michael Sroczynski in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 at the No. 8 singles spot in his first contest of the spring season.
In doubles action, the Alabama duo was defeated by the team of Bernhard Deussner and Jonah Kane-West of Texas in a tiebreaker 9-8 (4).
Competition at the UM Spring Invitational will resume tomorrow at 10 a.m. and will wrap up on Monday.
