TUSCALOOSA, AL?? The Alabama volleyball team fell to No. 10 Florida 3-0 before a crowd of 2,025 fans on Sunday at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville.
Alabama stayed close to the No. 10 ranked Gators in game one, a game that featured 10 tie scores and four lead changes before Florida took the game 30-28. The Tide fell in next two games to the Gators (30-13 and 30-17) for the 3-0 sweep. In the final two games Bama did not lead and the score was only tied once.
Alabama was led offensively by junior Brooks Webster’s nine kills. Defensively Amy Pauly had 16 of the teams 45 digs.
Florida was able to keep their home winning streak alive at 24 games, dating back to the 2005 season. The Gators improve their record to 10-2 and 3-1 in Southeastern Conference play. The Tide was swept 3-0 for the second consecutive match after falling to Auburn Friday night, bringing their record to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the SEC.
Bama continues on the road in the SEC next weekend visiting Georgia on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and South Carolina Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The Tide returns home to the CAVE October 6 against Arkansas that game can be seen live on FSN-South beginning at 6 pm.
