2005 Big South Conference Honor Roll
Stroup showed steady improvement in the fall and will likely see action in the Crimson Tide bullpen, either as a set-up man or as the closer.
SUMMER (2006):
- Pitched for the Wisconsin Woodchucks in the Northwoods League
- Appeared in 21 games and made five starts en route to a 2-3 record with five saves
and a 4.47 ERA - He worked 46 1/3 innings and allowed 47 hits, 26 runs and 23 earned runs, with 32 walks and 46 strikeouts
BIRMINGHAM SOUTHERN (2005-06):
- He pitched two years at Birmingham Southern College for Brian Shoop, before transferring to Alabama this summer after the Panthers dropped to Division III status
- He appeared in 34 career games at BSC and compiled a 2-4 overall record with six saves and a 3.98 ERA
- Worked 40 2/3 innings and allowed 27 hits, 20 runs and 18 earned runs, with 28 walks and 32 strikeouts
- As a sophomore, he posted a 2-2 record with six saves and 3.37 ERA in 25 games
- The lefty worked 34 2/3 innings and allowed 21 hits, 15 runs and 13 earned runs, with 24 walks and 27 strikeouts
- He recorded his first collegiate save with two scoreless innings of relief at Jacksonville State on March 21
- Logged his first career win against UNC Asheville on March 25, with two scoreless innings out of the pen
- He recorded his second win at Coastal Carolina on April 14
- Over his final seven outings, Stroup allowed only two earned runs (2.25 ERA) and two hits in eight innings while notching three saves for the Panthers
- As a freshman, Stroup was 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA in nine games
- He worked six innings and allowed six hits, five runs and five earned runs, with four walks and five strikeouts
- He did not allow a hit in five of his nine outings
- He also did not allow a run in six of his nine games
PREP:
- A four-year starter at Oak Mountain High School for coach Tommy Youngblood
- Posted a 27-6 (.818) record with five saves in his prep career
- Oak Mountain posted a 77-27 (.740) during his four-year career

All-State - Posted a 9-3 record with two saves, 100 strikeouts and 1.70 ERA as a prep senior
