
Alabama Soccer Completes First Practice

TUSCALOOSA ?? The University of Alabama soccer team officially kicked off its 2006 season Wednesday morning with a midnight practice session under the lights at the UA Soccer Stadium.
Head coach Don Staley’s squad entertained fans with an intrasquad scrimmage. Alabama will practice the remainder of the week on campus before holding camp at the Orange Beach Sportsplex August 12-18.
“It was great to be back out on the field and see our team in action,” Staley said. “We still have a lot of work to do but we’re excited about getting the season underway.”
Alabama will host Samford in an exhibition match at the UA Soccer Stadium August 19 at 7 p.m. before opening the season against Denver on August 25 in Nashville, Tenn. The Tide’s home opener will be on September 15 against Mercer at 7 p.m. Admission is free to all Alabama home soccer matches.
