Head Coach Mike Fox
“It goes without saying that we are excited to be playing here. We have a terrific task ahead of us. We’re facing a great Alabama team on their home field. This is the time of year that you’re just excited to be playing and we look forward to the opportunity and hopefully we’ll play well.”
On playing on ESPN
“I think I have an idea about how they’ll respond. We’ve been in a few tough environments this year. I know this one is going to be very difficult. I am interested to see how we’ll respond and I think it will be a key to our chances to see how we respond and if we relish playing in the national stage in front of a big crowd.”
On Alabama
“Alabama is very good. Their pitching has been their strength. Their three starters have been outstanding and we’d just assume not see Robertson this weekend. His numbers last year were outstanding and he’s still struck out a lot of batters this year. LeBlanc is going to give us all we can handle. He played with a few of our players last summer and he’s described as an unbelievable competitor.”
Josh Horton, P
“We obviously have a great pitching staff and we can credit our coaches for putting that part of the team together. We have a lot of guys who love playing the game of baseball; we all get along and have had fun playing together so far this season. Hopefully we can keep that going this weekend.”
On Wade LeBlanc
“I played with Wade (LeBlanc) last summer and he has an unbelievable change-up. It’s one of the best I’ve ever seen. I’ve never faced him but I think 11-0 speaks for itself. He’s going to present a good challenge for us.”
Andrew Miller, P
On facing Wade LeBlanc in Game 1
“All I know is that he’ll keep the runs down so that won’t change my game plan. I’m just going to go out there and try not to give up any runs. If I do that then we should be in a position to win.”
On the draft
“It hasn’t been a distraction. Things have been moving that fast that it has kept me busy. It’s been exciting. I’m glad the draft is over. I know where I stand and now I just want to focus on Alabama and winning the first game.”
Daniel Bard, P
On the draft
“It’s been an exciting week. I’ve had people calling me on Monday about winning the Regional and then people calling me again the next two days to congratulate me on the draft. It’s been like a whirlwind, but a lot of fun at the same time. I can’t complain. I think it has taken a lot of pressure on us for this weekend, too. Hopefully we’ll play relaxed.”
