Alabama track and field star Beth Mallory picked up another award for her work off the field on Thursday as she was named first team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America. Mallory graduated in May with a degree in physical education and carried a 3.83 GPA.
The honor caps Mallory’s stellar career at Alabama both on and off the track.
In addition to her All-American honor, Mallory was a four-year member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and was a three-time member of the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV team.
On the track, Mallory recently completed her career at Alabama at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, Calif. where she earned her fourth All-American honor in the discus, just 15 inches shy of winning her second straight NCAA championship in the event.
She also leaves the Capstone as a two-time All-American in the hammer throw. The Ashland, Ohio native was also a three-time SEC champion in the discus as well as the 2005 SEC Outdoor shot put champion. Mallory holds the school record in the discus and the hammer throw as well as the weight throw.
Mallory is competing this weekend in the discus at the USTF National Championships in Indianapolis.
