NOTES & QUOTES
SEC Tournament
May 25, 2006
Alabama vs. Arkansas
Alabama Head Coach Jim Wells
"It was a well pitched game. LeBlanc certainly pitched well. Waiting for the offense to kick in, the starting pitching certainly gave us a shot. It was a pretty good... well played game. We certainly wouldn't have won if we didn't (play small ball). It was huge. (Forty wins) means something. It used to be the mark to say you had a good year. Now you talk about Super Regionals. Forty is a lot better than 39.
Wade LeBlanc, starting pitcher
"We went after (Danny) Hamblin with fastballs. That's what we did all day. Luckily he's a guy who has a hard time laying off high fast balls, and that's what we were able to do."
Emeel Salam, Center Field
"We played a lot better tonight. We didn't hit hard, but we were able to execute and play small ball, which we didn't do last night. Yesterday we didn't have timely hitting. Today we were able to do everything right when it mattered."
Arkansas Head Coach Dave Van Horn
"First of all, I thought it was a great pitching duel today between [Daryl] Maday and [Wade] LeBlanc. They really matched each other throughout the game. We got off to a bad start in the first inning, but Daryl kept pitching and was able to get out of the inning. We came up with some big outs. We did a good job of hanging around in the ballgame. I was disappointed with the outcome and that we didn't make the adjustments we needed to."
Arkansas Pitcher Daryl Maday
"We played pretty well today. I thought we competed and I just tried to give our hitters a chance today. [Wade] LeBlanc did a good job of keeping our hitters off balance and was able to get the win."
Arkansas designated hitter David Hum
"There's always great pitching in the SEC. You can never count us out, but we just started too late today and we could never get anything going."
