Crimson Tide freshman centerfielder Brittany Rogers was named this week’s SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office this afternoon.
Rogers posted a .529 batting average (9-17) in helping lead the Tide to a 4-1 record during the week. She scored eight runs and was also 5-6 in stolen bases while recording a hit in all five games and posting multi-hit games in four of them. She recorded a .588 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage and as the lead-off in the Tide's lineup, Rogers started four of the five games getting on base. She was just as dangerous with two outs, hitting .667 (4-6) on the week.
The honor marks the second time this season Rogers has received an SEC award and the 11th time this season the team has received a weekly award from the league office. It also marks the 43rd time in school softball history that Alabama has received one of the SEC’s weekly honors, which is the most among softball programs in the SEC.
