The Alabama men’s track and field team will stay closer to home than they have been by competing in the Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday in Oxford, Miss.
Alabama head coach Harvey Glance is looking forward to being able to tone it down for a weekend.
“It’ll be good to stay closer to home,” Glance said. “We’ve been going at a high level for awhile starting back in the indoor season with the SEC Championships all the way through to last weekend at Stanford and LSU.”
Glance has been pleased with his squad’s results so far this season.
“They’ve all been great meets because we’ve had positive results. The good thing about that that we know we can compete and keep our intensity up at a high level for a long period of time.”
Even though the competition at the meet won’t be as stiff as what the Tide has faced in the past few weeks, Glance still has some expectations from his squad which has already qualified to compete in the Mideast Regional in nine events.
“This meet will be a low key meet and a good chance for us to put some guys in some alternative events as well as have some of them focus on their specialties. What we would like to do is get some multi-event guys. I’d also like to see Chauncey Harris stay consistent and I would also like to see our top hurdlers challenge their regional marks. Also like to see our discus throwers, Stephen Boozer and Jason Dixon, stay consistent. You always want your big guys to do well.”
The meet is scheduled to begin Saturday morning at 10:00 with the hammer throw.
