TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- After spending the last two weeks on the road, the University of Alabama baseball team will play seven of its next eight games at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, beginning with Wednesday night's 6:30 p.m. game against Mississippi Valley State. The Crimson Tide will also play host to No. 16 Vanderbilt and arch-rival Auburn during the next two weeks.
Tickets for the MVSU game and Vanderbilt and Auburn series are on sale now through the Alabama Athletic Ticket Office. Fan can purchase tickets on-line (www.rolltide.com) or by calling (205) 348-2262. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youth.
"We had a super crowd for the Mississippi State series and we need to continue that the next two weekends," Alabama head coach Jim Wells said. "We need to have a great crowd this weekend to help us out. Our team is playing better and we will go up against a team with one of the best pitchers in the nation this weekend. Vanderbilt is a really good team, with a lot of pitching and some fine young talent. They may not have the name recognition of a Miss. State or LSU, but they are probably better than those two teams."
Alabama will host Vanderbilt this weekend at the Joe. The series opener is Friday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. Alabama junior left-hander Wade LeBlanc (6-0, 2.99 ERA) is expected to match up with Vandy ace sophomore left-hander David Price (5-2, 2.29 ERA), who leads the SEC with 104 strikeouts. The two teams also play Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Crimson Tide will host Auburn next weekend (April 28-30) at the Joe. Tickets are also available for that series as well.
Alabama will play UAB next Wednesday, April 26 at the Hoover Met. Tickets for that game are on sale by calling UAB Ticket Office (205-975-UAB1) or the Birmingham Barons (205-988-3200).
