The Crimson Tide offense (38-6, 16-2 SEC) could not string together enough offense as they dropped the series finale to the 11th ranked LSU Tigers (41-7, 14-4) 3-2.
For the second time in the series LSU jumped on top in the first inning, plating two runs on two-run single by Stephanie Hill for a 2-0 Tiger lead.
Staci Ramsey cut the lead in half with a solo home run, her sixth of the season, making it a 2-1 affair.
LSU pushed its lead back to two runs in the top of the sixth, taking advantage of a couple Alabama errors making it a 3-1 game.
Once again Ramsey make it a one-run game in the bottom half of the inning when she lined a double into right centerfield scoring Jordan Praytor who doubled earlier in the inning cutting the LSU lead to 3-2. Praytor’s double extended her hitting streak to 19 straight games.
Stephanie VanBrakle (21-4) took the loss, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits in five innings of work. She registered five strikeouts and issued two walks.
Ramsey finished the day going 2-3 with a double, home run and two RBI.
Alabama steps out of conference play on Wednesday when the team travels to Birmingham to take on the Birmingham-Southern Panthers in a 7:00 p.m. tilt. The Tide returns home next weekend to close out its SEC home schedule against the ninth ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
