“All in all it was an above average day for us,” Alabama head coach Judy Green said. “We have a lot of things to work on and get better at. It was good to play and be in a match-like situation.”
While Green characterized the Tide’s morning session as disappointing, she was pleased with the way her squad bounced back in the afternoon.
“We played much better and more competitively in the afternoon session than in the morning session,” Green said. “I think in the morning, we were still trying to learn each other a little bit, and try and get used to each other on the floor. The main thing is that I saw improvement from the morning to the afternoon. I liked how we competed and executed in the afternoon.”
Green was encouraged by the way the Tide has improved playing out-of-system from last season.
“We played three games against Georgia and the one thing that stood out to me was that we are improved playing out-of-system,” Green said. “We are much better. We attacked aggressively which was encouraging. Our out-of-system play was very aggressive and very good.”
The scrimmage also provided the chance for the Tide’s two redshirt freshman to get the opportunity to play as well give the Tide a chance to look at several combinations of lineups.
“It was exciting to see Brooks Webster and Christie McKee play today,” Green said. “We put a lot of different lineups on the floor to get as much experience as we could. We had a lot of people get their feet wet for the first time. I thought Mary Beth Moore had a great day as well.”
The Tide will compete in their second scrimmage of the spring next Saturday at Georgia Tech.
