FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.--The Alabama men’s track and field will have three individual athletes competing in four events as well as two relay teams in this weekend’s NCAA Indoor Championships. The Tide is represented by Chauncey Harris, LaChristopher Lewis, Peter Etoot and the members of the 4x400m relay and distance medley relay squads in Fayetteville.
The Tide is looking to rebound from last season’s performance in which Alabama failed to score a point in the competition.
Harris has led the Tide all season and will represent Alabama in two events. Harris is the eighth seed in the 60m dash and the 14th seed in the 200m dash. Lewis is the 15th seeded runner in the 400m dash and Etoot will be looking to earn All-America again in the 800m.
The Tide’s 4x400m relay team of Lewis, Etoot, Michael Cooley and Lemual Clayborn is the seventh seed at the championships and Alabama’s DMR of Etoot, Cooley, Titus Koeh and Augustus Maiyo comes into the meet as the eighth seed.
Etoot will open the competition for the Tide on Friday afternoon at 4:30 with the preliminaries of the 800-meter run. Harris will follow with both the preliminaries of the 60m and the 200m and hopefully the finals of the 200m as well. The Tide will wrap up competition with the distance medley relay on Friday night.
The Tide will hopefully lead off with Etoot again on Saturday in the finals of the 800m run. Lewis will follow with the preliminaries of the 400m dash. Should Harris advance to the finals of the 60m, he will be the Tide’s next to last competitor of the event followed by the Tide’s 4x400m relay to wrap up the competition.
