With just a week to go before the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Alabama men’s track and field team is heading back to the site of one of their top meets of the season to compete in the Notre Dame Last Chance Qualifier. The Tide posted nine NCAA provisional qualifying marks at the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame a month ago.
“Obviously we’re excited about our chances of running well at Notre Dame,” Alabama head coach Harvey Glance said. “We had a very successful meet there earlier this year and we are looking forward to running a couple of fast relays as well as letting our individual athletes run fast as well. Feel confident that we have the personnel to get the job done.”
The Tide will be looking to lower the qualifying marks they have as well as to protect their relay times.
“I think we have some solid enough times, but anything can happen,” Glance said. “Historically they take the top ten relay teams in the country and we are in there. We just have to stay in front and protect what is ours.”
The Last Chance Qualifier opens up Friday at 4 p.m. C.T. with the long jump competition.
