
Tide Opens NCAA Tournament Play Thursday Against Marquette

The University of Alabama basketball team opens play in the 2006 NCAA Championships on Thursday, March 16 at 2:50 p.m. CT. Alabama, 17-12 and the 10 seed in the Oakland Regional, plays Marquette, 20-10 and the seven seed in the regional, in the first round.
The winner of that game will play the winner of the first round match-up between UCLA and Belmont. The second round game for those winners will be on Saturday, March 18. Game time for that game has not yet been set. The games are being played in San Diego State's Cox Arena in San Diego.
CBS will broadcast Alabama's game with Marquette on Thursday. Dick Enberg and Jay Bilas will be the broadcast team for the network.
Alabama is making its fifth straight NCAA tournament appearance and its 19th NCAA postseason run since 1975.
