Divers In the Hunt for NCAA Bids

Alabama divers posted a pair of top-15 finishes at the NCAA Zone B Championships held in Lexington, Ky. This weekend
Senior Crystal Rasmussen, who grabbed one of the nine women’s bids available from Zone B to the NCAA Championships with Friday’s second place finish off the one-meter board, took 13th off the three-meter. Rasmussen scored 549.55 points in finals.
Rasmussen, who scored off the one and three-meter and platform at the 2006 SEC Championships, earned All-American honors as a sophomore and junior.
Junior Aaron Ashworth took 14th off the one-meter board Saturday, scoring 553 points. Ashworth is in the hunt for one of the 13 NCAA bids available to Zone B’s men after finishing sixth in Friday’s three-meter competition.
A three-time All-American, Ashworth finished third off the three-meter board and the 10-meter platform at last month’s SEC Championships.
Zone B concludes competition Sunday with the men and women’s platform competitions.
