TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama assistant soccer coach and USA National Pool member Katie Barnes is partnering with the Tuscaloosa YMCA for an open soccer clinic on Saturday, February 11.
There will be three clinics throughout the day for specific ages and all will be free to the public. Each clinic will be held at the UA Soccer Complex.
“This is something that we like to do every year,” said Barnes, a three-time collegiate All-American. “It’s something that we can do to get kids involved in soccer and give back to the community at the same time.”
The clinic will begin at 11 a.m. with ages 6 and under. A clinic for ages 8 and under will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the clinic for ages 10/12 and under will begin at 2 p.m.
“It will be a fun learning atmosphere and we encourage all skills levels to come out and participate,” Barnes said.
Barnes played collegiate soccer at West Virginia and was selected ninth overall by the Carolina Courage in the 2002 WUSA draft. She helped lead the Courage to the Founders Cup Championship.
