Bama Softball Hits Road for First Mid-Week Game

The sixth ranked Crimson Tide softball team (9-1) hits the road for the middle portion of its longest road swing of the season as the team travels to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
Alabama comes into the game off a tournament championship at the Dunkin' Donuts Invitational in Boca Raton, a tournament that saw the Tide go 4-1. Following the game with Southern Miss, the team will head to Columbus, Georgia for the prestigious NFCA Leadoff Classic where it will get in five more games. The Crimson Tide will play a total of 11 games before heading back to the Capstone for the Crimson Classic on March 3-5.
Alabama leads the all-time series with the Golden Eagles 3-1, having won three in a row. Bama's lone loss in the series came in the 2000 College World Series.
The Crimson Tide has met with much success in the Magnolia State. Alabama owns an all-time record of 64-10 (.865) against schools from Alabama's neighbors to the west. The Tide's slate against Mississippi includes: Delta State (1-0), Jackson State (2-0), Mississippi State (26-7), Mississippi Valley State (3-0), Ole Miss (29-2) and Southern Miss (3-1).
Bama is currently led offensively by sophomore Dani Woods who's hitting a team-leading .440 with three home runs which is also a team high. In the circle, Stephanie VanBrakle and Chrissy Owens are carrying the Tide staff. Owens has a team best 0.00 ERA while VanBrakle checks in with a team best 5-0 record and 67 strikeouts which is also tops on the pitching staff.
