7 Miers Quigley

Quigley made great strides this fall and has positioned himself to become one of the Crimson Tide’s weekend starters on the mound.

FRESHMAN (2006):

Appeared in seven games and made four starts as a true freshman
He posted a 1-2 record and 3.75 ERA
Worked 24 innings and allowed 24 hits, 16 runs and 10 earned runs, with eight walks and 21 strikeouts
He limited opponents to a .250 batting average and allowed only six extra base hits
His Crimson Tide debut began with a flurry as he took a perfect game into the fifth inning against Samford on Feb. 14
He finished the game with five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings but did not figure into the decision
Earned first collegiate win against No. 20 Southern Mississippi on Mar. 15.  He limited the Golden Eagles to three runs on four hits in seven innings during the Tide’s 13-3 win
He threw one scoreless inning of relief against Lipscomb on March 29
He added three innings of relief against Ole Miss at the SEC Tournament on May 27, his only SEC appearance of the year

PREP:

A three-year starter at Roswell High School for coach Mike Power
Selected in the 19th round (550th pick) of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals
He battled a series of injuries during his senior year, which limited him on the mound
As a junior, he was 12-2 (.917) with one save and a 1.98 ERA  and 118 strikeouts
Participated in the 2004 AFLAC High School All-American All-Star Game at Cal Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md.
Named 2004 Atlanta Journal Constitution Player of the Year
As a sophomore, he was 11-1 (.917) with one save, 1.06 ERA and 94 strikeout
Helped his team to a 21-5 overall record and berth in the Georgia 5AAAA state playoffs.  He tossed an 81-pitch, complete-game for Roswell in the quarterfinals
In 2003, Quigley was selected to the World Wood Bat Association (WWBA) Perfect Game Junior Championship All-Tournament Team
