27 Austin Graham

After missing the majority of the 2006 season with a shoulder injury (originally suffered during high school football game against Hoover), Graham continues his rehab and the coaching staff is hopeful he will be ready to take the mound in late February or early March.  He has a promising future on the mound and could really bolster the UA pitching staff with his
return.

FRESHMAN (2006):

Graham was off to promising start as a freshman before a shoulder injury sustained at South Alabama on March 8 ended his season prematurely
He was granted a medical hardship by the NCAA and SEC and will have four years of eligibility remaining at Alabama
Graham was 2-1 with a 2.87 ERA in four starts before his injury
He worked 15 2/3 innings and allowed 15 hits, eight runs and five earned runs, with five walks and eight strikeouts
Graham was the losing pitcher in his Alabama debut against No. 26 Winthrop as he allowed four runs and seven hits in two innings on Feb. 13
He notched his first collegiate win with seven solid  innings against Kent State on Feb. 19.  Graham held the Golden Flashes to one unearned run and three hits, with two walks and four strikeouts
He earned his second win as he held Florida International to two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings on Feb. 26

PREP:

Attended Spain Park High School in Hoover, played for both Casey Dunn and Will Smith
As a prep senior, he logged 98 strikeouts in 76 innings despite nagging injuries
He also batted .364 with eight home runs as a prep senior
As a junior, Graham was 9-1 with a 1.11 ERA and 92 strikeouts
He also added four saves and threw two no-hitters
He was named to the Birmingham News Class 6A All-State team
The 2004 Jefferson County Player of the Year
Member of back-to-back county championship teams (2002-03)
Also played in consecutive Class 6A state playoffs (2002-03)
Graham played in the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Baseball Showcase in 2003-04
Played in the East Coast Professional Baseball Showcase in 2004
Also played football as a sophomore and junior
