Alabama Swimming and Diving men's team split with LSU and Kentucky in a double dual meet to open up the New Year on Saturday in the Alabama Aquatics Center.
The Crimson Tide men beat LSU 71-42 and fell to Kentucky 63-50. Alabama's women fell to both LSU, 60-53, and Kentucky, 65-47.
The Tide men opened up the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay when freshman Chris Perry, junior Vlad Polyakov combined with seniors Spiros Bitsakis and Darren Erasmus to finish with a 3:19.35.
Freshman distance ace Mark Randall grabbed a win in the 1000 freestyle, finishing nine seconds ahead of the field with a 9:23.85. Junior Vlad Polyakov was five seconds ahead of everyone else in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall at 1:58.02.
On the women's side, senior Crystal Rasmussen won the one-meter diving event, scoing 260.55 points. Sophomore Erin Sparks won the 200 IM with a 2:05.19 while sophomore Hanna Miluska took top honors in the 500 freestyle with a 4:57.65.
Alabama returns to action Friday, Jan. 20 in Gainesville, Fla. where the men will face Florida and the women will take on the Gators and Arkansas.
