Tide Men Complete Competition at Clemson

The Alabama men’s track and field team capped off a successful meet at the Clemson Invitational Saturday afternoon by picking up a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
Chauncey Harris finished first in the 60m dash with a qualifying time of 6.69 seconds. Also qualifying provisionally was Byron Gibson in the 60m hurdles. The Maryland native ran the event in 7.91 seconds to finish in first place.
Alabama head coach Harvey Glance was excited about the team’s performance this weekend.
“We had a pretty good meet here at Clemson,” Glance said. “Chauncey Harris and Byron Gibson won their events and qualified provisionally for the NCAA championships. All in all is was a strong weekend for us from Rhode Island to Clemson. Our consistency is improving and now we have four provisional qualifiers on the season and are looking for more and more to come.”
Other Crimson Tide performers who had strong performances include Michael Cooley, Marcus Siwemuke, Lemual Clayborn, LaChristopher Lewis and Matt Vogtner. Cooley and Siwemuke each had personal bests their respective events. Cooley took second place in the 200m dash with a time of 21.96 seconds. Siwemuke finished sixth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.13 seconds.
Clayborn and Lewis took fourth and sixth in the 60m dash while Vogtner took fourth in the pole vault with a height of 16’0 ??”.
The Tide men travel to Champaign, Ill. next Saturday to compete in the Carle Health Alliance Invite.
